Diese Aussage ist ein echtes Brett und technisch ein Meilenstein. In einem Video von der Web3Foundation wurde Gavin Wood mit der Aussage zitiert dass sogar 1 Mio. Transaktionen pro Sekunde möglich sein werden. Polkadot investiert derzeit viele Ressourcen auf der Problematik, dass bei einem hohen Transaktionsaufkommen eine herkömmliche Blockchain schnell an ihre Grenzen stößt. Angepeilt sind 166k TpS, was eine wahre Revolution wäre. Bei den Transaktionen ist die Unterscheidung zwischen einer Proof-of-Work (PoW) und einer Proof-of-Stake (PoS) Blockchain wichtig. In unserem Artikel "Was ist Bitcoin (BTC)" haben wir bereits das Konzept und die Funktionsweise einer Proof-of-Work (PoW) Blockchain erklärt. Neben Bitcoin ist auch Ethereum (in Version 1) eine PoW Blockchain, was aktuell ein klares Problem darstellt. Durch die sehr große Anzahl an dApps, welche auf dem ERC20 Standard auf der Ethereum Blockchain basieren, und die immer weiter ansteigende Anzahl an Nutzern, welche mit der ETH-Blockchain interagieren, stösst diese immer mehr an ihre Grenzen 🚧 Es können nur eine gewisse Anzahl an Transaktionen in einem Block verarbeitet werden. Eine Transaktion auf der Ethereum Blockchain kann schnell (je nach Geschwindigkeit 💨) bis zu 50 Dollar (letztes Jahr waren es sogar noch deutlich mehr) pro Transaktion kosten.

Polkadot möchte das Problem der Transaktionsgeschwindigkeiten für alle Blockchains lösen.

In unserem Post "Was ist Bitcoin" haben wir ausführlich darüber geschrieben wie wichtig der Konsensus ist. Deswegen wurde hier ein System entwickelt um alle Systeme miteinander zu verbinden, die über einen Konsensus verfügen, egal ob Parachain oder andere Smart Contract Plattformen. Über dieses Nachrichten System lassen sich verschiedenste Blockchains miteinander verknüpfen. Dabei verfügt das System über eine "Zustellgarantie". Abgeschickte Nachrichten werden also definitiv zugestellt. Ausserdem wird durch den sog. XCM Executor sichergestellt, dass die Blockchains auch nach Upgrades weiter miteinander kommunizieren können und die Nachrichten am richtigen Platz landen. XCM kommt bereits bei Acala zum Einsatz, wo DOT Token über das Protokoll zur Acala Parachain gesendet werden um sie dort zu staken. Die Token werden dabei gesendet, nicht gebridged und auch nicht geburnt und neu gemintet, wirklich gesendet! Auch das Moonbeam Projekt verwendet XCM um mit der Ethereum Blockchain zu kommunizieren. Auch Polkadot selbst verwendet XCM bereits um mit Blockchains innerhalb der eigenen Infrastruktur zu kommunizieren, die keinen eigenen Token oder keine eigene Governance haben. So kann eine Nachricht von Parachain 1 direkt an Parachain 3 gesendet werden und von dort aus wird sie z.B. an einen User oder eine Wallet ID zugestellt (siehe Abbildung). Damit dient das Messaging System als Kleber innerhalb der vielen Blockchains und bringt sie zusammen. Damit ist es möglich Blockchains für bestimmte Aufgaben zu spezialisieren und dann miteinander zu verbinden. Nicht jede Blockchain muss damit alles können. Das ist ein wirklicher Gamechanger! XCM v3 und wie es weiter geht

Auf der Polkadot Decoded 2022 hat Gavin Wood seine Visionen für XCM vorgestellt. In seinem Beispiel stellt er sich vor dass man seine Token z.B. auf der Statemint Chain hält, auf der Governance Chain mit ihnen abstimmt und auf der Staking Chain im Staking hält. Die primäre Aufgabe des Kusama Netzwerkes ist es, den Entwicklern eine Art Spielwiese zur Verfügung zu stellen, auf der sie gänzlich neue Dinge ausprobieren, bevor  die Projekte dann ins Polkadot Netzwerk gehen. Kusama ist ausserdem für alle Entwickler gedacht, die ihre Projekte aus finanzieller Sicht nicht ins Polkadot Netzwerk bringen können. Dadurch ist Kusama deutlich mehr als nur ein Testnet. Alle Projekte die auf Polkadot kommen, wurden vorher auf Kusama getestet. Allerdings können die beiden Blockchains auch miteinander kommunizieren, was einen unglaublich effektiven Aufbau ermöglicht. Wie bei Polkadot wurde das Kusama Netz komplett in die Hände der Community gegeben. Diese stimmt über alle neuen Features und Änderungen ab. Damit ist Kusama auch eine Art soziales Experiment, weil eben die User die Macht über das Netzwerk haben. Es gibt keine zentrale Instanz die über die Entwicklung bestimmt. Aktuell können wir sogar erleben wie sich die zentralen Blockchain Projekte wie Celsius oder BlockFi durch ihr aufgebautes Schneeballsystem quasi selbst zerlegen, noch bevor die Regulierer kommen.

Eine Möglichkeit Privatsphäre und Sicherheit auf der Blockchain zu schaffen sind die Mixnets. Hier werden die Token bei einer Transaktion über einen Pool gesendet, der die Token austauscht und dann an den Empfänger sendet. Somit lässt es sich nicht mehr nachvollziehen wer welche Token von wem erhalten hat. Meiner Meinung nach ein starkes Feature das unglaublich wichtig ist. Es geht die Neugierigen Augen nunmal nichts an wem ich was sende. Mit dem Polkadot v2 Update möchte sich Gavin nun vor allem auf Skalierbarkeit, Interoperabilität, Treasury Managment und dem Parachain Onboarding widmen. Vor allem soll getestet werden, wie sich die Skalierbarkeit auf Zero Knowledge auswirkt, wie sich die Limits von Parachains auswirken und wo diese Limits sind und welche Auswirkungen es hat mehrere Relay Chains miteinander zu verbinden. Man möchte den Prozess gerne 2 stufig gestalten. Eine Blockchain die auf eine Polkadot Parachain möchte, sollte vorher über das Kusama Netzwerk laufen. Dort können Verbesserungen eingebaut werden und wenn die Entwicklung ausgereift ist, geht es von dort aus weiter ins Polkadot Netzwerk. Allerdings ist das auch nicht ganz billig. 1. Governance

Die Token-Inhaber werden die vollständige Kontrolle über das Protokoll haben.
