Ethereum hat mit den Smart Contracts die Tür für programmierbare Assets und programmierbares Geld aufgestossen.

In Kombination mit der Blockchain erlauben es mir die Smart Contracts, mit jedermann geschäftliche Beziehungen 🤝 aufzubauen. Einfach weil ich der anderen Partei nicht mehr selber vertrauen muss. Erfunden wurde Ethereum von Vitalik Buterin, der es 2013 das erste mal vorstellte. 2015 ging Ethereum in Betrieb und ist bis heute die Kryptowährung mit der zweitgrössten Marktkapitalisierung nach Bitcoin. Vitalik selber war sehr früh in der Bitcoin Szene unterwegs und hat Bitcoin auch stark unterstützt. In einem Interview hat er einmal gesagt das er sich von seinen ersten Bitcoins ein T-Shirt 👕 bestellt hat und gemerkt hat “Wow, das funktioniert” seitdem war er Fan. Ihm wurde schnell klar, dass Bitcoin mehr Möglichkeiten zur eigenen Programmierung benötigen würde, mit diesem Vorschlag stiess er allerdings bei Bitcoin Core auf taube Ohren 🙉. Genau wie bei Bitcoin besteht Ethereum aus einem Netzwerk an Nodes und Minern. Auf allen Nodes läuft die Ethereum virtual Maschine (EVM) mit und kümmert sich unter anderem um den Consensus im Ethereum Netzwerk. Die EVM funktioniert auch als Mittelsmann zwischen Smart Contract und der CPU der Teilnehmer im Netzwerk. Ohne diesen Mittelsmann wäre es z.B. möglich, Befehle in Smart Contracts zu schmuggeln, die direkt mit der CPU des jeweiligen Rechners sprechen. Damit könnte man die Kontrolle 🕹️ über das Netzwerk übernehmen. Dank der EVM (Ethereum virtual Maschine), die auf allen Rechner im Netzwerk läuft geht das nicht. Die EVM ist ein Programmcode der Befehle an die Rechner im Netzwerk übersetzt und anschliessend an die CPU weitergibt um die gewünschte Rechenleistung zu erbringen. Aus diesem Grund wird für Smart Contracts die eigene Programmiersprache Solidity verwendet. Sie fungiert als Übersetzer für die CPU und ist im Gegensatz zur ₿itcoin Sprache "Script" Turing Complete. Was so viel bedeutet das auch Schleifen ➰ (Loops) programmiert werden können.

Jede Node im Netzwerk liest und rechnet den Code von Smart Contracts. Kommen alle Nodes zum gleichen Ergebnis, wird Consensus erreicht und der Smart Contract ausgeführt.

Wenn ich einen ETH an ein anderes Wallet sende, funktioniert mein Wallet wie bei einer Bank 🏦. Minus 1 bei mir, plus 1 beim Empfänger. Das spart eine Menge Speicherplatz 💾 bei den Transaktionen, weil nicht der komplette Track Record jedes einzelnen Coins, der gesendet wird, mit gespeichert werden muss. Ethereum ist damit von den Zahlungen her nicht ganz so transparent wie Bitcoin. Ich persönlich sehe Ethereum auch nicht als eine Währung an. Man kann Ethereum vielleicht als eine Art internes Geld in einem Vergnügungspark 🎢 sehen. Jedes mal wenn ich ein Fahrgeschäft oder eine Attraktion besuche, zahle ich mit diesen ”Vergnügungspark Geld” und wenn ich den Park verlasse, tausche ich das was übrig ist wieder in etwas alltägliches wie Euro oder Dollar. Das Ethereum 2.0 Update soll vor allem die Performance im Netzwerk erhöhen und Ethereum skalierbar machen.

Einer der Hauptgründe für das Ethereum Update lässt sich derzeit jedes mal beobachten, wenn wieder ein DeFi Hype hochkommt. Sobald das Netzwerk rege genutzt wird, steigen die Transaktionskosten, weil Ethereum derzeit nur 15 Transaktionen pro Sekunde bewältigen kann. In einem Proof of Stake Netzwerk heissen die Miner, Validators. Diese halten Ethereum Coins in einem Smart Contract und können dadurch Transaktionen bestätigen. Ausserdem wird durch einen Algorithmus bestimmt, welcher Validator im Netzwerk den nächsten Block bestätigen darf. Hierzu schaut der Algorithmus unter anderem welcher Validator die meisten Coins hat, seit wann er dabei ist, wie zuverlässig er ist oder auch wieviele Blocks er schon bestätigt hat. Anhand dieser Kriterien bestimmt der Algorithmus den nächsten, glücklichen 🍀 Validator. Proof of Stake ist damit deutlich Energieeffizienter als Proof of Work, weil nicht alle Validatoren im Netzwerk gleichzeitig an einem Puzzle rechnen müssen. Ausserdem soll Proof of Stake einen Trend verhindern, der sich in den letzten Jahren auch bei Bitcoin bemerkbar macht. Die grossen Mining Pools haben dort eine echte Marktmacht entwickelt weil sie unglaublich viel Rechenleistung bündeln. Dort besteht die Gefahr einer Zentralisierung der Miner.

Die Anforderungen um ein Validator zu werden sind neben einem schnellen Rechner und einer konstanten Internet Verbindung, 32 Ether die man als minimum hinterlegen muss um sich zu beteiligen.

Mit Phase 2 soll Ethereum 2.0 live gehen und alle Funktionen zur Verfügung stellen. Phase 3 ist für alle zukünftigen Updates im Consensus Mechanismus und der Skalierung zuständig.

Trotzdem gehen eine Menge Vorteile mit der Blockchain Technologie einher. Wenn man allein bedenkt wie viele Daten und Papier benötigt werden um einen Container zu verschiffen, liegen diese Vorteile doch klar auf der Hand. Eine andere Möglichkeit wäre der Einsatz von internen Blockchains wie Hyperledger. Was zwar schön und gut ist, aber wenn verschiedene Firmen untereinander Daten austauschen möchten, muss ich als Firma wieder der anderen Partei vertrauen. Das diese saubere Daten liefert und ihre IT sauber führt. Dann brauche ich allerdings auch keine Blockchain mehr... Ein gutes Beispiel ist Coca Cola. Diese haben ein Projekt gestartet das auf dem Baseline Protokoll aufbaut. Zusammen mit Unibright möchte man hier die Blockchains der Welt miteinander verknüpfen und Abläufe effizienter machen.

Die Idee einer wertstabilen Währung haben Staaten, Zentralbanken und andere Währungshüter schon seit sehr langer Zeit. Das Konzept wurde in der Vergangenheit auch erfolgreich umgesetzt bzw. praktiziert. Der Dollar wurde bis August 1971 📅 von Gold 💰 gebacked.

Es war somit für jeden US-Bürger, Staaten, Unternehmen und allen Besitzern von US-Dollar Banknoten 💸 und Münzen erlaubt, diese bei der Zentralbank gegen Gold einzutauschen. Oder anders herum betrachtet. Es konnten nur so viele Dollar neu „gedruckt“ werden, wie auch neues Gold in den Tresoren der Zentralbank eingelagert wurde. Dies machte den Dollar zu einer harten Währung, da es nicht möglich war, eine beliebige Menge an US-Dollar in Umlauf zu bringen.

Mit der Entkoppelung des Dollars vom Goldstandard begann das, was ziemlich sicher als der Anfang vom Ende des Dollars angesehen werden kann. 📉

Wer dachte, dass die Finanzkrise 2008/2009 die sich im Umlauf befindende Geldmenge signifikant erhöht hat, der beachte die kleine „Delle“ in dieser Kurve zu diesem Zeitpunkt und vergleicht diese mit der Entwicklung seit März 2020. Es muss niemandem an dieser Stelle erklärt werden, wieso ab diesem Zeitpunkt 🕒 die Entwicklung exponentiell geworden ist.

Ach, und die Geldmenge sind nicht 20 Millionen oder 20 Milliarden USD.

Vereinfacht gesagt waren es im Oktober 2021 21,2 Billionen USD. Vor März 2020 waren es nur schlappe ca. 11,5 Billionen USD. 🤑 Es wurde also in nicht mal zwei Jahren die vorhandene Geldmenge (fast) verdoppelt!!

p.s. als Präsident Nixon den Goldstandard "vorübergehend" aufhob, und den Dollar vom Gold 1971 entkoppelte, lag die Geldmenge bei 0,25 Billionen USD… zum Vergleich: diese Menge an Geld wurde im Zeitraum von März 2020 bis März 2022 im Schnitt alle zwei Wochen „gedruckt“ 😂

Dass der Wert von 1 USD natürlich nicht mehr der Identische ist, wie zu dem Zeitpunkt, als der Goldstandard angehoben wurde, ist klar. Dass jedoch jeder Dollar von 1970 heute nur noch die Kaufkraft von 13 USD-Cent hat, ist unglaublich!! 🤯

In gerade einmal 50 Jahren, und das trifft nicht nur die Bürger der USA 🇺🇸- dies dient nur als veranschaulichendes Beispiel - wurden die Menschen um 87 Prozent ihres Vermögens erleichtert. Um die gleiche Kaufkraft zu erhalten, müsste jeder Amerikaner, der 1970 ein Gehalt von 500 Dollar bezog, heutzutage ein Gehalt von 3.350 Dollar beziehen oder umgerechnet das 6,7 fache seines damaligen Gehalts. 💰

Die Entwicklung hat jedoch gezeigt, dass gerade Güter des täglichen Lebens um ein vielfaches teurer geworden sind. z.B. Energiepreise, Rohstoffe 📈🔋🍖🍎🌽

Doch wieso erklären wir das alles so ausführlich? Wieso heißt der Artikel Olympus DAO? Was hat das ganze mit Blockchain zu tun? Wir verraten es Ihnen.

Eine genaue Erläuterung zur Spieltheorie, welche zunächst anhand eines sehr einfachen Beispiels erläutert und dann auf das OHM-Protokoll übertragen wird, erklären wir hier ganz kurz. Das ist der Grund warum die Theorie / Mathematik hinter OHM so genial ist 💪

OhOh, jetzt gibt es kurz Mathe

Bevor wir auf die Genialität des Projekts eingehen, das wir vorstellen werden, widmen wir uns einem mathematischen Modell, welches zwischen zwei rational entscheidenden Personen modelliert wurde und für den Mechanismus von Olympus DAO von entscheidender Bedeutung ist - die Spieltheorie. Die einfachste Herangehensweise, um dieses Modell anschaulich zu beschreiben und in seinen Grundzügen zu verstehen, ist ein Beispiel. Betrachtet werden in der nachfolgenden Tabelle zwei Gefängnisinsassen A und B. Beide haben zusammen einen Überfall begangen und wurde zu einer Haftstrafe verurteilt. A und B haben jedoch nicht verraten, wo sie die Beute untergebracht haben. Das Gericht hat folgendes Urteil erlassen:

Falls beide Verurteilten schweigen, ist die Strafe 1 Jahr Gefängnis für beide
Falls einer der Verurteilten die Standort der Beute verrät, wird er freigelassen und der andere muss 3 Jahre Haftstrafe absitzen
Wenn beide den Standort verraten, dann müssen beide für 2 Jahre die Haftstrafe antreten

Da A und B jeweils in Einzelhaft untergebracht sind, wissen sie nicht, was der andere für eine Entscheidung trifft, da es schließlich eine Option gibt, bei der er direkt wieder frei wäre, solange der andere nicht auch versucht sich über diese Option die Freiheit zurückzuerlangen.

Spieltheorie und OHM

Es ergibt sich also ein Dilemma. Welche Entscheidung sollten A und B jeweils treffen? Da die Theorie annimmt, dass A und B rational entscheidende Personen sind, ist davon auszugehen, dass beide sich für die Option 1 entscheiden. Hierbei müssen zwar beide jeweils ein Jahr Haft absitzen, jedoch tragen sie auch kein Risiko, dass diese Haftstrafe auf zwei Jahre verdoppelt wird. Dieses Konzept greift Olympus DAO auf.

In dieser Tabelle werden zwei Individuen betrachtet, welche drei Optionen haben:

Staken, bewertet mit +2
Bonden, bewertet mit +1
Verkaufen, bewertet mit -2

Angefangen in der Mitte, wenn beide Individuen "bonden", auf was weiter unten im Text genauer eingegangen wird, hat dies keine Auswirkungen auf den Preis, jedoch erhalten beide einen Rabatt. Folglich also eine (1,1) Bewertung dieser Entscheidung. Falls beide Individuen sich für den Verkauf ihrer Token entscheiden, bonden sie nicht und staken sie nicht. Somit ist dies eine (-3,-3) Bewertung, welche dem Protokoll am meisten Schaden zufügt. Der Schaden kommt einerseits daher, dass der Marktpreis gesenkt wird und keine neue Liquidität dem Protokoll hinzugefügt wird. Zu erwähnen ist, dass dem Protokoll selbst keine Liquidität genommen werden kann! Wenn sich zusätzlich nun beide entscheiden ihre durch das Bonden erhaltenen Token zu staken, ergibt sich, links oben im Feld, eine (3,3) Bewertung. Dies ist die absolut beste Entscheidung für beide Individuen, da hiervon jeder am meisten profitiert. Auch das Protokoll selbst, nicht nur die beiden Teilnehmer, profitiert hierbei am meisten. Zusammenfassend kann also von rationalen Individuen, welche sich am OlympusDAO Protokoll beteiligen, ausschließlich von der Bonding+Staking Entscheidung, (3,3), auszugehen sein. Alle anderen Entscheidungen schaden dem anderen bzw. wenn ein anderer so entscheiden würde, jeder sich selbst. Rational bedeutet in diesem Fall, dass man davon ausgeht, dass keiner sich selbst schaden wollen würde. Dieser Entwickler hat das Problem des Wertverfalls und des stetigen Kaufkraftverlusts einer Währung erkannt. Doch erkannt haben das schon viele andere. Ein Lösung jedoch wurde bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt nicht gefunden.

Das Olympus Protokoll und die Mechaniken, die dahinter stecken, verfolgen nur die eine Idee einer dezentralen, kaufkrafterhaltenden, selbst regulierten, vollkommen automatisierten und Blockchain basierten Währung 💸💰

Was bedeutet das und vor allem wie funktionier’s?

Olympus DAO, nachfolgend OHM, ist eine DAO (dezentralisierte autonome Organisation). Dies bedeutet, dass der Programmcode offen einsehbar, jedoch unabänderbar ist und durch keinerlei Anteilseigner, Personen, Staaten oder Behörden geändert bzw. manipuliert werden kann. ✅

Es ist dezentral! 💡

Das Entwicklerteam kann lediglich OIP (Olympus Improvement Proposal), also Vorschläge zur Weiterentwicklung und Verbesserung, an alle Besitzer der Token stellen. Diese dürfen dann für oder gegen diese abstimmen, wovon eine spätere Umsetzung des OIP abhängt.

Der Olympus Token OHM ist die stabile Währung. Doch was macht diesen so stabil und zugleich dezentral? Wer und wie wird die Menge reguliert und hat diese Währung einen „Goldstandard“? 🤔

Vergleichen wir OHM mit Bitcoin. Jeder weiss, dass es maximal 21 Millionen Bitcoins geben wird. 👑‼️

OHM ist keine gedeckelte Währung wie Bitcoin, bei welcher eine maximale Anzahl im Voraus festgelegt wird und nie mehr Token generiert werden können. OHM ist zugleich auch keine deflationäre Währung. ⁉️

Als Beispiel hierfür kann Ethereum 2.0 erwähnt werden. Durch den Wegfall des Minings von neuen ETH-Token und das durch das EIP-1559 eingeführte Verbrennen von ETH-Token, wird ETH 2.0 eine deflationäre Währung werden. Es wird also immer weniger ETH-Token in Zukunft geben. 📈

Grundsätzlich steuert das Protokoll sehr langfristig auf ein „End-Game“ zu. In weiter Zukunft wird ein OHM „nur“ durch ein DAI gebacked sein. Das ist also der Goldstandard eines OHM-Token. Bis dies jedoch der Fall sein wird, werden noch sehr sehr viele Jahre vergehen. 💰

Die APY, also die jährliche Verzinsung eines OHM-Token liegt aktuell bei knapp 7.000 Prozent. D.h. wenn ich heute ein OHM Token in das Staking des Protokolls einlege, so halte ich bei gleichbleibender APY nach einem Jahr 70 OHM. Unglaublich denkt man sich dabei!?

Woher kommt das ganze Geld?

Prinzipiell wird kein neues Geld generiert, nur wenn ich meine OHM in Euro messe, und sagen wir mal unter der Prämisse, dass in einem Jahr der Kurs unverändert ist, so habe ich 70 mal mehr Euro als vor einem Jahr 💸

Und woher kommen diese ganzen OHM? 🤔

Hat man sich einmal eingekauft, seine OHM-Token gestaked und entnimmt dieser Position für Jahre nichts, so hält man IMMER den gleichen Anteil an der Gesamtmenge der OHM-Token wie zu dem Zeitpunkt, zu dem man eingestiegen ist.

In Zahlen:

OHM-Token Menge bei Kauf: 1.000.000

Anzahl der von mir gekauften OHM-Token: 10

Anteil an der Gesamtmenge: 0,0001%

OHM-Token Menge zwei Jahre später: 40.000.000

Anzahl der von mir gehaltenen OHM-Token: 400

Anteil an der Gesamtmenge: 0,0001%

Durch den Kauf- und Verkauf von OHM-Token wird die Anzahl der Besitzer stetig steigen, jedoch kann einem selbst sein eigener Anteil nie verkleinert werden, wenn man nicht verkauft. D.h. jedem ist selbst überlassen, ob und wie lange er seine OHM-Token staken will und damit auch wie lange er die Kaufkraft seiner Token erhalten möchte.

Wieso wird dann ein OHM-Token für 500 Dollar aktuell gehandelt, wenn das „End-Game“ bedeutet, dass ein OHM ein DAI wird? Wie entsteht der Unterschied zwischen dem durch die OHM Treasury hinterlegten Wert eines OHM-Token von derzeit 130 Dollar und dem Marktpreis? 💵

Das „End-Game“ Szenario haben wir bereits beschrieben. Hierauf wird es sehr sehr langfristig hinaus laufen.
